Dewey Cantrell is the host of Dew's Blues that airs every other Tuesday night from 7 to 10 Central, alternating weeks with T-Bone's House Rockin' Blues Party/The Groove Zone.

Dewey Cantrell is a Blues guitarist, singer and songwriter from Des Moines, IA. He first picked up a guitar at the age of 13, learned a couple Ventures tunes, and has never put it down since. He played guitar in high school Jazz band, winning an Outstanding Musician award at state competition his senior year. Outside school he was in his first band at 16.

Early on, he was influenced by the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Johnny Winter, along with the British invasion of Blues-based guitar rock of the '60s and '70s, and later he became a student of acoustic Blues. Recently he started a series of Acoustic Showcases, featuring top guitar players in the Des Moines area. He has played everywhere from Alaska to Kuwait, and still performs regularly as a solo, as well as with his duo partner of over 25 years, Jodi Bodley, and with his band The Blues Bureau, also with Jodi.

Dewey has performed at the Mississippi Valley Blues Fest, the Bowlful of Blues, Nightfall On The River, the Central Iowa Blues Society's Winter Blues Fest, the Central Iowa Blues Society's 30th Anniversary, and numerous clubs and local stages in bands and solo. His songwriting covers the spectrum of emotion and life experiences - from good times to pain and loss, to sentimental, to tongue-in-cheek humor. He just loves sittin’ back and playin’ some Blues.
